ETA Darts Team

Our latest committee was held in the Phoenix Bar and after it we took on their darts team the Phoenix Knights. We weren’t optimistic on our chances with Kerie’s pink darts the only talking point in the pre-match team talk, it was 8v8 one straight 501 leg each.  Brian Davies in his unique round the board style got us off to an unexpected flyer and if truth be told we were just happy to get a leg.  Things were looking good again in the next leg when Chopper got to the double with his opponent still in 3 figures but then hit double trouble and it was 1-1. Then Kerie stepped up and the personalised darts did the trick as we went ahead again. Newest member of ETA Scotty the Piper pushed us further ahead and suddenly we were thinking that we have the chance of a win.New Secretary Liz gave a decent account of herself but couldn’t pull off the win.  Now the match was nicely poised but we had loaded the bottom end of our team, Gus will be playing for their team but had defected to ETA for the evening.  A good choice as he took us to 4-2 guaranteeing at least a draw and two chances of victory.  First to try to take us over the line was David Macniven and it was never in doubt.  He was the best player on the night and proved this by going onto win the KO Flyer afterwards.  ETA had won with a leg to spare, Martin lost the last leg to leave the final score 5-3. Our opponents were in pre-season mood and may not have been at their best but it was a great win in our first ever darts match.

A great night was had by all and we wish The Phoenix Knights well when their season starts.
